Hair Transplant Cost

Hair transplant costs are calculated based on the number of grafts transferred. Most hair transplant procedures encompass around 1500 grafts (approximately 3500 hairs). Grafting sessions range from a minimum of 500 grafts to over 2500. It is not uncommon for patients to return for additional hair transplantation.

This we feel is a very competitive and fair price in today’s marketplace where prices average $8 per graft. Our pricing schedule provides patients a very valued product at a very reasonable price. It also enables one to have residual financial resources for other potential cosmetic procedures as desired. Dr. Love provides the full gamut of cosmetic treatments and procedures ranging from injectables such as Botox and fillers as well the most current life enhancing surgical procedures.

An additional benefit to Dr. Tim Love’s Hair Transplant Center is our provision of up to $600 as a travel reimbursement. This is provided to you by the addition of 200 free or additional grafts.

A clear plan including the anticipated number of grafts and the accompanying cost will be determined preoperatively in order to avoid any negative post operative cost surprises.

Where is my surgery performed?

Hair transplantation by Tim R. Love, M.D. and the Hair Transplant Center staff is performed at 11101 Hefner Pointe Drive in northwest Oklahoma City. The Hair Transplant Center is conveniently located within Dr. Love’s primary office of Plastic and Cosmetic surgery.

What can I expect the day of surgery?

Our goal at the Hair Transplant Center is to provide you, our valued patient, with the best in surgical hair restoration. Your day of surgery will be remembered as a very pleasant experience. ‘Transplant day’ is a significant event for our patients and we approach it as such. You are the focus of our attention and your excellent result is our goal.

Your procedure will include completing any last-minute paperwork, reviewing our surgical plan and demonstrating your anticipated new hairline. You will then receive oral medication to sedate and relax you. Your procedure will begin approximately 45-60 minutes later. (see surgical procedure section for details). ENJOY the new YOU!

Are there any other treatments for hair loss?

In men we recommend the use of DHT-blocking treatments such as oral Finasteride and/or topical Minoxidil. These treatments are very helpful in preventing and/or delaying the progression of DHT-related hair loss. We also suggest the continued use of this regimen after hair replacement surgery to protect remaining hair follicles that are at risk to the damaging effects of DHT.

In women we search for any treatable causes of hair loss. These include low thyroid, autoimmune disease and iron deficiency (often seen after gastric bypass surgery). Often we will also treat women with the same anti DHT medicine regimen as there is a role of testosterone in peri and post-menopausal hair loss in women.

What color will my grafted hair be? Will the surgery cause it to go gray?

Good question. In general the grafted hair remains the same color it was when it was harvested. The natural progression of ‘graying’ should take place with age albeit respecting that your frontal scalp hair will now age as does the hair on the back of your head.

What areas of my scalp balding is the highest priority in terms of restoring first?

The most important feature of hair transplantation graft placement is to create a natural ‘forelock’. This area includes the hairline and behind it extending 7-8 centimeters. Optimizing hair placement in the forelock provides the transplant recipient the most versatility in terms of styling.

A careful assessment of how many follicles will be available for transplantation and where they will be optimally positioned is discussed and determined preoperatively. This may also include a plan to do additional grafting at a later time for those patients who are so motivated and have adequate donor hair for a second or subsequent treatment.
